With the May 21, 2010 Alabama unemployment rate report still showing 11% of Alabama residents out of work, which represent 228,333 people, the questions must be asked: What can we do to fix this??
A survey of residents looking for work at local Unemployment centers were asked these questions:
Are you activily looking for work?
How long have you been unemployed?
Did you realize that there are jobs, especially in construction, that are going to out of state residents and very possibly illegal immigrants right here in Alabama?
Did you know that our tax dollars are being used to build these construction jobs and our own residents are being shut out from working on these projects?
The concensus was that there are many people looking for a job, have been unemployed for an extensive period, and are unaware of how many non-residents and illegals are already working here, using our own tax dollars to suppliment them. And most are outraged when they find out what's going on.
